Who we are

What we collect and why

Enquiries

When you complete the enquiry form we collect your name, company, email address, telephone number and whatever you write in the message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry and, if you go on to become a client, to carry out the work. The lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to a request you have made of us — and, where a contract follows, performance of that contract.

The form is received and forwarded to our email account by Netlify, who also host this website, acting as our processor. No separate form company is involved. Your details are never sold and never passed to a marketing platform. We keep enquiry correspondence for up to six years, in line with the period in which a contractual claim could be brought, and then delete it.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time of request) for security and troubleshooting. These are held by the host under their own retention policy and we do not use them to identify individuals.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site. Analytics is not loaded unless you press “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. IP anonymisation is enabled. You can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which will make the banner reappear.

Cookies and local storage

• Consent preference — a single entry in your browser’s local storage recording whether you accepted or declined analytics. Strictly necessary to honour your choice; no consent required.
• Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — set only after you accept. Used to measure visits and traffic sources. Typically expires after two years.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, embedded maps, embedded video or third-party chat widgets on this site.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. Data is processed by our website host (for delivery of the site and the enquiry email) and, only where you have consented, by Google (analytics). Google may process this data outside the UK under the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access a copy of your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email scribe.eng@gmail.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry submissions are transmitted over an encrypted connection and delivered to a password-protected email account. This site sets no cookie when you submit the form.

Changes

If we add analytics, embedded content or third-party tools to this site we will update this notice and the cookie banner before doing so.
